Abstract
We based our experiment on the question of how the size of the lake and its proximity to human activity affect the clarity of lakes in Farmville. We followed the hypothesis that clarity will decrease depending on how high the level of human interaction with the area around each lake is. Three lakes of differing size and proximity to human activity were measured: Sandy River Reservoir, Longwood Campus pond, and Lancer Park Pond. The secchi depth and level of suspended solids were recorded for each lake twice over a three-week period. We will used the results collected to evaluated our hypothesis of water clarity will decrease depending on lake size and level of human interaction.
