Times Have Changed
Alexis McLaughlin
I completed this artwork for an "COVID-19 entry" assignment in Dr. Heather Lettner-Rust's English 400 class. I completed this piece on April 28th, 2020 in my apartment at Longwood University. In light of helping others, I'd like to thank my dear friend Sarah Irby for giving me a helping hand during the completion of this project. I'd also like to thank Dr. Lettner-Rust for being an excellent professor and skillfully designing this class so that it is meaningful and relevant to her students and community. Description of Art: This artwork titled "Times Have Changed" is a snapshot in time of our current world. The newspaper articles and headlines give the viewer insight into the profound global impact of the Coronavirus. The closer you look at the articles the more you are able to see the devastating and shocking effects of this pandemic. The Statue of Liberty is a universal symbol of freedom and has served to welcome immigrants to the United States of America since 1875. As of recently, many of our freedoms have been taken away in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This change is unfamiliar to all, especially for those who live in the land of the free. The long term effects of this virus are unknown. Perhaps, times have changed, for good. Some parting words from the artist: Do your part and understand the rest is out of your control. For the opposite of fear is love.
Physical artwork is available to view in the Longwood Archives.

Viral Diary / Diario Viral
Sergio Diaz-Luna
"Viral Diary" is a collection of diary entries written during the first weeks of the transition to online classes. The diary is written in Spanish, with some "segments" in English. The Viral Diary, "is a sensitive exposition of the rupture of paradigms that is taking place in university education in this context of the pandemic; the entries allow us to think from the perspective of the contacts and the affects that move us as educators, while reflecting on the possibilities and limits of distance education" (Eleonora Frenkel, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Brazil). Also, I have published the texts on my personal website: https://sergiodiazluna.weebly.com/viral-diary.html

World History in Covid-19
Phillip Cantrell
This is the draft copy of an essay/mock lesson plan I wrote and published in a special edition of the World History Bulletin. The assignment was devised for students to be able to conduct it online and also process the global IDP experience thru stay-at-home orders during the shutdowns and face-to-face class cancellations in the spring of 2020. The finished edition was published in the World History Bulletin XXXVI, no, 1 (Spring/Summer 2020): 59-60,.
Beginning in April 2020, Greenwood Library sought to collect the stories of community experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. The submissions posted here were submitted to that community archive and share Longwood’s stories of Covid-19. We asked students, faculty, and staff to share with us their thoughts and feelings in any format they wanted, and we received submissions of various forms, including journals, poems, artwork, video, poems etc. While we collected submissions throughout 2020 and into early 2021, the bulk of submissions represent the early days and months of quarantine from April - May 2020.
