Description

Despite many theories, there is little experimental evidence of bird tail function during slow flight. Birds’ tail muscles are independent from their trunk and legs and have phasic patterns that are synchronized with wing movement. Based off previous literature, there are three possible uses for bird tails during slow flight that may be concurrent.

BIOL 488: Investigating bird tail function across species during slow flight
