"Using Picture Books to Teach Vocabulary", Michelle Antonacci. Audience: Primary, Intermediate

Using a research-based framework, this session will guide teachers in how to select words for instruction, develop kid-friendly definitions, and create meaningful learning plans that enhance students’ language comprehension and production. "The Latest "Nutritious" Novels: Recent and Pre-released Children's and YA Books", Jennifer Szoch. Audience: All

Take a first-hand look at the latest and pre-released books of 2013. These books were published between April 2013 and December 2013; perfect for book-talks and back- to-school reading promotions. Titles include picture books, easy chapter, middle school, and high school novels. Handouts provided with all Novel Nutritious reviews and the most “delicious” books! Don’t miss it!
"Research Connections: A New Perspective", April Knowles & Chrissie Wilson. Audience: High School

Ideas will be given for nontradional resources and digital presentation formats.
"Interpreting the Evidence, Choosing your story", Patrice Lambusta & Stacey Shaddix. Audience: Middle/Jr. High
-
In this session we will share structured guided inquiry units that ensure rigorous learning with meaningful connections across the content areas.
