Topic
Word on the tweet is…: Using social media to engage high school library stakeholders
Description
Frequently high school students and their parents are less engaged than their elementary and middle school counterparts, especially in relation to the school library. Research shows that students whose parents are engaged achieve more and those whose administrators communicate with them through social media feel a bigger sense of school connectedness. School libraries should promote their program using the social media platforms that parents and students utilize to build a sense of library community. The purpose of this nonexperimental study is to determine the best social media outlets to use in engaging high school library stakeholders.
