Description

We examined the effect of temperature on group interaction using three puzzle conditions. Participants were in three different conditions where they completed puzzles in groups; a warm condition, of a beach scene that elicited warm feelings, a cold condition of a mountain that elicited cold feelings, and a neutral condition, which was a train scene that was not related to temperature. We hypothesized that the warm condition would be rated more favorably than the cold condition and that the neutral condition would be rated more favorably than the cold condition and that there would be no significant difference between the neutral and cold condition. Based on our hypothesis, interactions in a group setting can be impacted by ambient or perceived temperatures.
