Where are the girls in children's books? Recent studies reveal the continued absence of women and girls in children's and young adult literature. Moreover, the female characters present in these texts often reinforce antiquated stereotypes about girls. In this dynamic, interactive session, a Women’s and Gender Historian and a Middle School Literacy Coach will team up to book talk some of the best titles for girls who just wanna have a fun-damental role in children’s literature.
