A major concern of individuals undergoing the process of transitioning from one sex to another is the perception of their own voice and its portrayal of their authentic gender. Our presentation aims to review the concepts and acoustic variables that contribute to listener perceptions of speaker gender, particularly with transexual individuals. The audience will understand the significant characteristics that play a part in listener perception of speaker gender; most notably, the role of fundamental frequency and resonance.
