54 educators from the Region 8 schools attended a Balanced Literacy Institute on the University campus June 26 and 27, 2017. Day one focused on Creating a Culture of Learning and intensive book reviews featuring children's literature with mathematics, science and social studies connections. Day two focused entirely on balanced literacy from the basics to application. The day included discussion, hands on activities, and lots of ideas and resources to take back to the classroom in the fall.
