Description

The goal of this research is to investigate cancer mutations in p300, a transcriptional coactivator and histone acetyltransferase. First, gene expression experiments using a CRISPR-Cas9 approach has shown that p300 cancer mutations impair the coactivator function of the p300 core. Next, structural modeling will be performed to assess the effects of these mutations on the structure of the p300 core. Finally, cell-based experiments will be performed to measure the effects of mutations on p300 function in cancer cells. The results of these studies will provide insight into p300 dysfunction in cancer cells.
