NURS 360: Do Spanish-speaking patients with limited English speaking ability benefit from an in-person translator versus a “blue phone” (over the phone) translator by having faster and better quality of care?

The purpose of this poster was to determine if having an in-person translator is better for patient care than telephone translation. We saw a need for the improved patient translation services in the hispanic population during our hospital clinical rotations. We used secondary research methods to analyze articles and published research studies to make conclusions that included interviews and self-administered surveys. There were mixed conclusions in each research study so we did not find a conclusive preferred method.
